The author calls this a "brainstorming" program.  You write a sentence and it substitutes alternative words.  For example, if you write "It was a dark and stormy night" and select the word "stormy", you would get dozens of alternatives one of which might be "It was a dark and humid night".  Try it out.  If you like you can send a full version to your favorite college student suffering through his/her first creative writing class.  Full version includes complete documentation, a dictionary editor, and the automerge feature.
